Qatar’s Biggest Jewellery Exhibition Unites 500 Treasures in Doha

Jewellery’s extraordinary ability to reveal identity, belief, status and cultural heritage will take center stage in Doha this fall when Qatar Museums presents its most extensive jewellery exhibition to date. Around the World in Jewellery will bring together more than 500 jewellery pieces, artworks, photographs and sculptures at M7, offering visitors a sweeping journey through centuries of adornment and craftsmanship.

Running from October 27 to December 26, 2026, the exhibition will draw primarily on Qatar Museums’ collections, with numerous objects being displayed publicly for the first time. The scale is significant and, as this Qatar Jewellery News report highlights, the exhibition approaches jewellery not simply as decoration or luxury, but as a universal form of communication capable of revealing where people came from, what they believed and how societies expressed power, tradition and belonging.

Treasures From Major Qatar Collections

Objects will come from the National Collection of Qatar, National Museum of Qatar, Museum of Islamic Art and the forthcoming Lusail Museum. A selection from Van Cleef & Arpels’ patrimonial collection will also appear through Qatar Museums’ collaboration with L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts.

Curated by art historians Inezita Gay-Eckel and Paul Paradis of L’ÉCOLE, with spatial design by artist and designer Johanna Grawunder, the exhibition examines jewellery through the lives of those who created, wore, exchanged, inherited and protected it.

Seven Themes Tell a Global Story

The exhibition is structured around seven themes: Sea & Ocean, Nature, Cosmos, Body Adornment, Status, Customs & Ceremonies, and Protection.

Sea & Ocean examines pearls, shells and coral, while Nature explores inspiration drawn from animals, plants, forests and minerals. Cosmos considers humanity’s fascination with celestial bodies, while Body Adornment investigates how jewellery transforms both the appearance and meaning of the body.

Other sections examine jewellery as an expression of status and hierarchy, its importance during milestones including marriage and coming of age, and its historic role as a form of protection or a symbol of well-being.

Interactive Experience for Younger Visitors

A Children’s Piazza running through the exhibition will translate the same themes into games and interactive activities for visitors aged four to 10, including experiences inspired by traditional Qatari games. It will be the first dedicated children’s area created at M7 as part of an exhibition.

Educational programs, children’s workshops and an English-Arabic publication featuring research from jewellery specialists, historians and curators will complement the exhibition. Entry will be free, with M7 opening from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday through Thursday and from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays.

Jewellery Becomes a Record of Humanity

By placing precious jewels alongside artworks, photographs and cultural objects, Around the World in Jewellery promises to demonstrate that adornment can preserve far more than beauty. Across generations and civilizations, jewellery has recorded personal relationships, spiritual beliefs, social standing, craftsmanship and cultural exchange. The Doha exhibition therefore offers visitors an opportunity to see familiar objects differently—as remarkably intimate records of human history.

Around the World in Jewellery forms part of the Qatar Creates Fall/Winter 2026–27 season while extending the cultural exchange encouraged by the Qatar–France 2020 Year of Culture.
