Held at the Jio World Convention Centre and NESCO Bombay Exhibition Centre, the event gathered leading players from across the world, reinforcing India’s role as a hub of manufacturing excellence, design innovation, and trade leadership. Among the most notable international participants was the Indian-Thai Diamond and Colorstone Association (ITDCA), whose delegation represented both experienced jewelers and emerging voices from Thailand’s gem sector. Industry Engagements and Factory Insights

The delegation, led by ITDCA President Atul Jogani, engaged in a series of carefully structured visits that highlighted India’s strengths in diamond and jewelry production. Their first stop at Jewelex, one of India’s premier jewelry manufacturers, provided an in-depth look into large-scale operations powered by advanced technologies and a workforce of more than 4,000 professionals. The Thai team expressed gratitude to the Kothari family for extending hospitality and insights during this tour.

Another major highlight was the visit to SRK Diamond Company, where members observed cutting-edge production facilities and sustainable practices that have placed SRK among the top global players in diamond manufacturing. The exposure provided the Thai delegates with valuable knowledge on operational efficiency and the adoption of next-generation technologies.

Exposure to India’s Diamond Ecosystem

The delegation also experienced the grandeur of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). A special parade and a guided tour showcased the sheer scale and sophistication of India’s diamond trade. Hosted by Mehul Shah, Vice Chairman of BDB, along with members of the executive committee, the Thai delegation gained deeper understanding of the organizational and infrastructural support available to Indian diamond merchants. The group also visited the Bombay Diamond Merchant Hall and met with representatives from the India Diamond Trading Centre (IDTC), further enriching their perspective on the sector.

Networking and Cultural Diplomacy Beyond technical visits, the ITDCA group attended networking events that combined business with cultural experiences. Evenings featured live performances by renowned artists such as Sonu Nigam and Vishal, hosted at JewelBuzz, reflecting how the industry integrates entertainment with trade relations. Accommodation at Hotel Leela offered the delegation an atmosphere of comfort and luxury, complementing the professional focus of their schedule.

Expanding Indo-Thai Trade Potential

The visit to IIJS was not only a learning journey but also a platform to build momentum for future trade growth. Discussions centered on opportunities in colored gemstones, finished jewelry, and collaborative ventures in manufacturing. ITDCA President Atul Jogani, also Vice President of the Thai Gems and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA), emphasized the importance of nurturing stronger commercial ties between India and Thailand. Expressions of gratitude were extended to industry leaders, including those at Rose Jewelry, JewelBuzz, Laxmi Diamond, and others who made the Thai delegation’s visit impactful.

Outlook for the Future

The ITDCA delegation’s participation in IIJS 2025 was a pivotal step in reinforcing Indo-Thai collaboration within the jewelry trade. By exposing Thai professionals—particularly the younger generation—to India’s scale, innovation, and global positioning, the mission helped set the stage for enhanced partnerships and shared growth in the years ahead. Both nations stand to gain from closer cooperation, with Thailand benefiting from India’s technological leadership and India drawing strength from Thailand’s established role in colored gemstones.
